This exhibition, sponsored by the Iowa Federation of Handweavers and Spinners and The Craft Guild of Iowa City, will highlight the wide variety of expertise, imagination, and fiber techniques of 23 artists residing in Iowa. Traditional fiber arts will be included as well as innovative uses of fiber. Those who attend will recognize some artists who are nationally and internationally known and will also see the work of Iowans whose work is newer in the fiber world. The exhibition, curated by Deborah Zeitler, highlights works of wearable art, tapestry, surface design, quilting, basketry, fiber sculpture, mixed media, and other fiber expressions. The exhibition will be on view during the Midwest Weavers’ Conference 2019, held on the Grinnell College campus from June 20 to 22. Over 300 textile artists will attend the conference, entitled “Uncommon Threads.”
