If the last four years has taught us anything, it’s that the truth can be elusive. We are constantly bombarded with information and imagery that is meant to persuade us, to shape our view of ourselves and the world around us. This material triggers a gut reaction and renders an opinion based on our emotions, experiences and beliefs. One person’s response may be distinctly different than another based on these biases. As people and as a country, we are far from perfect. We all have our flaws, baggage, and struggles that shape our character and history. While we can’t change our past, we can learn from it and strive to be better. Perfect Imperfection is a collection of works that explores our history, our insecurities, our taboos – the parts that make us uncomfortable but also make us human.
